For the past few months there has been one favoured topic of conversation as everyone eagerly awaited the arrival of the Fabricators Installers Trade Show. With all eyes in the industry watching the FIT Show to see if the years of hard work and hundreds of thousands of pounds spent were worth it, there was a lot of pressure on the organisers. However I think everyone will agree it was a fantastic show.
We headed down to the FIT Show with quite a few new products to show to our customers, but our stunning new i-Plate was the showstopper. The revolutionary letterplate has a frameless design and corrosion proof construction. If you type ‘distraction burglary’ into a search engine your results will be flooded with recent news stories of people who have been the victims of distraction burglary.
If the caller is wearing a uniform then their ID should be checked before opening the door. Our Identity Card Entry Slot allows the occupier to receive the ID without having to open the door; they simply lift up the sliding latch on the inside to allow the caller to slip the card through. This allows the occupier to check the ID thoroughly without the pressure of someone standing in the doorway.
If the caller is not wearing a uniform but the householder is unsure of their identity a door chain should be used when opening the door. Before opening the door however, all other doors and windows should be locked as the caller may have an accomplice who will proceed to steal from the premises. Door chains enable the door to be opened slightly to communicate with the caller, but also prevent the caller from forcing their way into the property. The door should only be opened fully if the trustworthiness of the caller can be verified.
